Agenda grab for graphics pros
Smart Papers and Magnum Photos are offering a free 134-page, desktop weekly 2006 agenda calendar for graphics professionals while supplies last. The spiral-bound 10.5" x 7.5" calendar, now in its seventh year, features never-before-published photos of New York City. The piece shows off Smart Paper’s premium coated and uncoated stocks and was printed at Richmond, B.C.-based Blanchette Press on a Heidelberg six-colour press. Five different paper stocks were used including Kromekote One-Side Cover, Kromekote Two-Side Cover, Kromekote Brushed Silver Foil, Pegasus Brilliant White Smooth, Text and Smart Brights Electric Orange, and Cover Vellum.
New portfolio from Neenah
Look Good On Paper is a new multigrade identity portfolio for designers’ studios, business customers and professional organizations, all specified from the finishes, colours and weights offered by Neenah. The folder combines the Super Smooth finish of Classic Crest double-thick cover with Red Pepper Classic Linen and Classic Columns, and Classic Laid papers. Round Corner Writing Paper is now available in four stock items. Matching label stock and envelopes, including square flaps, complete this offering of premium papers. The folder houses brand identity samples, which include printing techniques such as four-colour process and laser diecutting. The folder also demonstrates the printability of weights from 24 lb. writing to 130 lb. cover and more.
International Paper teams with HP for new paper technology
HP and International Paper introduce a new paper technology that “locks” colour into paper; the result of research and development from the labs of HP and International Paper. HP Everyday Papers with ColorLok are suitable for laser printing and inkjet systems. The paper dries three times faster, the blacks are up to 40% darker, the colour palette is improved and the sheets are whiter for higher contrast. HP General Office and Multipurpose paper already feature ColorLok technology
New web presence for Fox River
Fox River Paper has a new website for both Fox River and Gilbert brands. Two separate domain names—foxriverpaper.com and gilbertpaper.com—take users to one website that provides browsing access to both brands. New selling tools, product information and technical information are all there, and consumers can purchase any colour, size or weight of Fox River or Gilbert grade lines in any quantity from the website.
Jenson shows off its smooth blues with new swatchbook
Jenson’s new Smooth Blues swatch book and profile, available from Cascades Fine Papers, is a remixed collection of its paper grades showcasing a smoother surface and a bluer-whiter sheet. Available in 80 lb. and 100 lb., Jenson cover is now made in Thunder Bay, allowing printers to serve the needs of customers for rolls, skids and custom sizes. Additionally, the new Jenson cover is thicker and stiffer than before. Gloss cover is 12% thicker and Satin cover is 20% thicker.
