Fall numbers paint a positive picture of the Canadian printing industry, with increases for the last several months. But the good news is due in large part to Statistics Canada’s tracking of Alberta shipments which it had ignored for at least a couple of years. B.C.’s shipments, however, continue to be absent.

More than 130 print companies generated in excess of $10 billion in 2013. That’s what our Gold List 2014 reveals. The Gold list is a ranking of the largest printing companies in Canada based on sales volumes and compiled with information submitted by print shops themselves and data we have gathered on our own.
Assembling this list is a hefty undertaking but it’s not an exact science. And we confess up front that we may have holes in our data, or may have made some miscalculations in our estimates. We strive each year to refine our methods and our results. But in general, the list provides a good “big picture” look at the industry and some of the trends that are shaping it. Ten locations, including the Staples Canada and Staples Advantage head offices have been bullfrog-powered with clean energy since April 2013.
