HP and KBA are developing the HP T1000 Simplex Colour inkjet web press, a high-speed, high-volume, 110"-wide web press for pre-printing corrugated top liners. The press allows corrugators to combine jobs together on a roll or across rolls for short, mid or long runs. It differs from traditional analog preprint since every box can be different.

Agfa Graphics has launched the new Anapurna M2500i with automated board feeder. The printing system is part of the i-series and offers higher productivity and quality. The M2500i is a 98-inch wide, 6-colour plus white UV-inkjet press with an automated feeder deigned for sign shops digital printers, photo labs and graphic screen printer.

The Rho 1312 is a 98-inch press that prints up to 6,600 s.f./hr with an improved image quality and a higher gloss finish, increased reliability during printing and media handling flexibility, particularly with difficult and heat-sensitive media. The Quadro Array print head applies small droplets of 12 picolitres which allows for high speed printing without compromising the image quality. With its “Gradual Flow Printing,” —stronger vacuum, a wider transport belt and improved media registration— it provides a higher reliability when printing and a better performance with difficult media. The digital textile printing market is forecast to grow at an average annual growth rate of 20.1% in value terms between 2014 and 2019, according to a new market study by Smithers Pira.
A total of around 650 million square metres of fabric were printed digitally in the year to mid-2014. It is estimated that total digital textile printing output will rise to 1.6 billion square metres annually by 2019. This includes displays (soft signage, etc and direct-to-garment – DTG).
The new study – The Future of Digital Textile Printing to 2019 – examines the growth of the digital textiles market from 2009 to the current year, and the potential for its future development over the next five years with comprehensive forecasts to 2019, broken down by end-use sector, print process, textile media and geographic region. The global inkjet market is forecast to grow rapidly at an average annual growth rate of 12.7% in volume terms between 2014 and 2019.
In 2014 inkjet ink sales will be $6.2 billion, some 57,500 tonnes, while printers and converters will spend a total of $3.3 billion on new inkjet presses and equipment. Prospects for growth in all sectors are very positive.
